One of UGA’s top recruiting targets from this past season is under an NCAA investigation at Mississippi State, according to Mississippi’s The Dispatch Newspaper.
Defensive back Will Redmond of Memphis signed with Mississippi State last February, despite a late push from UGA, which was Redmond’s childhood favorite school.
On Thursday night, the Dispatch reported that the NCAA is looking into a “potential recruiting irregularity” involving the Mississippi State football program.
Sources close to the situation have confirmed to The Dispatch MSU Sports Blog the investigation, at least in part, involves an automobile purchased for MSU freshman defensive back Will Redmond. The Ford Mustang was purchased before Redmond signed with MSU this February from a used car dealership in his hometown of Memphis, Tenn.
